PhD student position in cytoskeletal research
Part-time position (65 %), Start-date: 01.09.2020


The lab is interested in the interplay of the cytoskeletal components actin, microtubules and septins. The project aims to analyze the role of the septin cytoskeleton in the formation und function of primary cilia. Primary cilia are important regulators of signaling pathways during development and in organ homeostasis. Therefore, dysfunctional cilia are a major cause of human diseases and developmental disorders.

We mainly use microscopy, cell culture and molecular biology techniques. Our group is equipped with state-of-the-art imaging (e.g. TIRF, Spinning disc, SR-confocal, SIM).

We offer a stimulating working atmosphere in a diverse scientific training environment with the latest equipment.


We search for a highly motivated candidate with good communication skills to join the team.

The applicant should have an excellent degree (M.Sc. or equivalent) in molecular medicine, biology, biochemistry or other related fields.

Preferred applicants were able to gain first experience in cell biology techniques (microscopy, cell culture work, cloning and molecular biological assays) during their master thesis and have very good written and spoken English skills.

The project is funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft DFG for 3 years (E13, 65%).

The position is available immediately.
