The University of Freiburg has been granted 12 Tenure-Track-Professorships from the Bund-Länder-Program for the Promotion of Early Career Researchers and now calls for application for one of these Tenure-Track-Professorships at the Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources in the Institute of Earth and Environmental Sciences for a
Tenure-Track-Professorship for Geo- and Crystalline Materials
Fulltime position, start date: immediately
This is a grade W1-professorship to which recruitment payments can be offered. It is to be filled as soon as possible. This professorship is suitable for highly qualified early career researchers.

The tenure-track-professorship should cover the entire field of Geomaterials and Crystalline raw materials in teaching and research. Proved research and teaching skills are required in the fields of crystallography, crystal growth and the characterization of defects. The correspondence of structure/texture with material properties as well as the influence of external fields and microgravity in combination with numerical simulation could be potential key areas of research. It is assumed that the candidate holds excellent international cooperation and project acquisition and is open for networking inside the faculty and university (here: sustainability of natural resources, natural risks and cooperation with the Freiburg Materials Research Centre FMF and Sustainability Centre Freiburg) as well as with (inter-)national institutes and major research facilities.

Prerequisites for the employment are a university degree, an outstanding dissertation and an excellent publication record. This position is a fixed term of four years. After a successful interim evaluation, it can be extended by two years. Furthermore, the tenure procedure towards Full Professorship W3 will be initiated after successful interim evaluation.

The tenure procedures are regulated in the Statutes and Quality assurance concept for Junior Professorships with and without Tenure Track and agreed upon with the Ministry of Science. As a prerequisite for granting tenure and the subsequent conversion into a full professorship (W3) (1) the requirements defined in the Statutes and Quality assurance concept have to be met and (2) the subject specific criteria determined by the Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources have to be met.

The contract is a fixed-term contract for 4 years. The salary will be determined in accordance with W1.
