Recent Awards

The University of Freiburg produces outstanding achievements in science and research, and many of our researchers are decorated with research awards each year. On this page we introduce you to all University of Freiburg researchers who have received important awards within the past year. The list is in descending chronological order, starting with the most recent laureate as determined by the date of the University of Freiburg press release announcing the decision. Freiburger Physiker 2013 High Energy and Particle Physics Prize
Research teams led by the professors Dr. Gregor Herten, Dr. Karl Jakobs, and Dr. Markus Schumacher (ATLAS and CMS experiments at CERN) received the High Energy and Particle Physics Prize for their work in the area of Particle Physics.
   
Benjamin Lemke 2013 Südwestmetall Prize
Dr. Benjamin Lemke received the 2013 Südwestmetall Prize for his work in the area of Microsystems Engineering.
   
Dr Soeren Lienkamp 2013 Theodor Frerichs Prize
Dr. Soeren Lienkamp received the Theodor Frerichs Prize for his work in the area of Kidney Development.
   
Prof. Dr. Elmar Hellwig 2013 Distinguished Scientist Award
Prof. Dr. Elmar Hellwig received the Distinguished Scientist Award for his work in the area of Caries Research.
   
 Prof. Dr. Rudolf Korinthenberg 2013 Duchenne-Erb Prize
Prof. Dr. Rudolf Korinthenberg received the Duchenne-Erb Prize for his scientific work in the area of Muscular Diseases.
   
 Prof. Dr. Dietmar Kröner

2013 Prize for Interactive Computer Simulation
The research group of Prof. Dr. Dietmar Kröner (Dr. Robert Klöfkorn, Tobias Malkmus, David Nies, Dr. Martin Nolte, Axel Pfeiffer, and Theresa Strauch) achieved second place in the "Competition of Modules for the Open Source MPE Exhibition" for their scientific work in the area of Applied Mathematics.
