Lab Manager / Research Assistant Position
Fulltime position, Start-date: At the earliest possible date.

Research Area:  Immunology

 

This position is in the laboratory of Professor Lillemeier in the Institute of Biology III at the Albert-Ludwigs-University in Freiburg (Germany). Our group is interested in the regulation of immune cell activity and function during immune responses. Current research efforts are focused on the activation mechanisms of human and mouse T cells. We apply multidisciplinary approaches to elucidate how protein conformations, modifications and assembly control signal transduction and thereby T cell activity. Newly identified molecular mechanisms are characterized and targeted in vivo to modulate anti-tumor responses and autoimmunity. Our goal is to identify novel drug targets for future immunotherapies.

Applicants should either have an education as technical assistant (BTA, MTA or CTA) or a comparable qualification. Practical laboratory experience in an academic institution is preferred. The applicant should have good communication skills and be proficient in English. A successful candidate has to demonstrate administrative and experimental abilities.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update laboratory registries for reagents, protocols, data etc.
  • Administer and implement electronic laboratory notebooks.
  • Implement laboratory work practices and guidelines.
  • Order supplies and oversee equipment maintenance.

 

Experimental Responsibilities:

  • Train and supervise laboratory aids and students on basic biological skills, such as cell culture, flow cytometry, microscopy, molecular biology, biochemistry and/or animal handling.
  • Perform experiments independently to support doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers.
